Gameworks Las Vegas (Next to MGM Grand)
What is GameWorks?
A brief history from their site: In March of 1997, GameWorks made its debut as the forefront in the gaming, entertainment, and restaurant industry with its first establishment in Seattle, Washington. This innovative conception of creating a one-stop destination for cutting-edge games, centered around family fun entertainment and good food was formulated by top-notch entertainment leaders—Dreamworks SKG/Steven Spielberg, Universal Studios, and Skip Paul, GameWorks Chairman & Co-founder—who strive bit by bit to push the envelope by advancing the world of technological entertainment. Soon after its breakout, GameWorks spread throughout the United States with 17 locations and formed multiple international partnerships.
Its immediate and widespread success landed the interests of SEGA and the Sega Sammy Group, whose acquistion of GameWorks in May 2005 and their formation of Sega Entertainment U.S.A., Inc. (SEUI), has furthered their scope in developing the experience of high-tech games and amusement facilities for all ages. This movement has also strengthened the vision and progress of GameWorks through the creative resources, guidance and expertise of SEUI in the entertainment gaming industry. These forces combined means continuous delivery of thrilling excitement through innovative fun, state of the art games, and groundbreaking entertainment.
Admission to the GameWorks facilities is free, however you will need to purchase to play. This allows families the opportunity to see what is there and decide if it suites their needs before laying out any cash.
